This piece entitled “Regeneration” represents a semi-abstract concept of my paintings that push the boundaries of the narrative aspect of the subject matter and places emphasis more on the meditative, spiritual and surface quality of the work. It is an ongoing part of my series that show the beauty and constant change within the biosphere of land and water communicated aesthetically through the exploration of color, movement and texture. The influences are derived from my hikes within the southern jungles of Cetti Bay where the river outlets pour out to the open ocean, a meeting place of sorts. Dead fall, such as leaves, branches decaying flora and faunal, fallen seeds from trees flow down and wash up along the riverbanks and out to the sea only to regenerate in this zone. The constant evolution of layers of debris reveals a tantalizing beauty in nature that feeds rich new life into a never-ending cycle of growth for our island.
