Nine
My name is Nine, I am 28 years old from Texas. I moved to the island of Guam 8 years ago. Currently I am studying at the University of Guam for my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. When I am not attending classes, I am working at Guam Ink Hustle as a resident tattoo artist. My day to day revolves around art and I couldn't be happier about the life I have.
Through my art I try to convey a sense of modern tradition. Traditions are followed to provide a sort of comfort and sense of belonging. By using the motifs from many types of traditions it brings many cultures a sense of connection to one another while adhering to the modern influences not to alienate future generations.
My favorite mediums are currently watercolor painting, clay, and tattooing. The traditional themes that have my eye lately are the styles within Asian art cultures. This can be seen through all mediums I have been using. Being able to create artwork using an array of different mediums helps me fulfill my full artistic potential.

If the land met the sea.
Watercolor
As for this artwork I wanted to portray the wonderful plants, fruit, and native animals again. This piece has a femininity in the sweet fruit chosen and the empowering alas jewelry.

If the sea met the land.
Watercolor
For this artwork I wanted to portray the importance of the sea to our island as well as the culture and the native animals here. All while displaying a masculine tone by using the strong shelled ayuyu and the significance of the sinahi.
