Joseph Certeza, born and raised in Guahan, belongs to the Gumataotao clan of Tutuhan and Yo'na. He grew up with the matriarchs Adela Gumataotao Peredo and Josefa Cruz Certeza, who are both his grandmothers and influences as indigenous storytellers. His work ranges from illustrations, murals, to hand-printed textiles. Certeza is the artist behind Tao Pacific Designs, which designs textiles inspired by the life value of the CHamoru people.
