Hunter Orland

The photos I have here include a mask which brings awareness about our limited cultural resources; specifically our endangered coral reefs. The mannequin depicts man in relation to our natural resources; the coral and the fish.  Many times when the coral reef is discussed it is always talked about in terms as something on it’s own; that it’s not in a conversation with other elements. We talk about the reef as a concept but our coral reef interacts with other living beings like the people of this island and marine life.  Sometimes we don’t pay attention to this dynamic interaction.  How does the reef affect our lives as humans and how does it affect our wild life? Instead of thinking the reef as something separate why not think of it as part of a whole.
